Herbal Blend Uses & Tips
How do I store my herbs?
All dried herbs and blends should be stored in airtight containers at room temperature and out of direct sunlight.
Ways to Use Herbal Products:
-
Tea
Pour 6-8 oz of hot water over 1 T of the herb/herbal blend. Cover and let it steep for 5-8 minutes.
Strain if not using a bag or strainer.
Some fun additions you might enjoy are milk, sweetener or lemon juice. Some are really good poured over ice!
-
Drink Infusion
Typically done with fresh herbs (but dried can work as well) - add to water, lemonade, or tea to kick your beverage of choice up a notch.
-
Bath Soak
Place roughly 4T (1/4c) of the herb or blend in a mesh/cheesecloth/muslin type bag and place in the bath. If you don't have a bag - just throw them in the water then soak and enjoy! A tablespoon or two of Epsom salt or a few drops of essential oil can be added as well. (Know you may need to rinse off after your soak if not using a bag.)
-
Aromatic
Some herbs are great for aromatic purposes. Place roughly 1-2T in a cheesecloth/muslin type bag and place in the location of choice - like a car or sock drawer.
-
Infusion/Tincture
Place herb(s) of choice in a jar. Cover with appropriate oil or other medium. Let it sit in a cool dark place for typically a few months. Strain out the herb(s) and use as desired according to the herb(s) used. There are many reputable websites that have instructions/recipes for this.

Herbal Crafts
Make your own bath soak, dried herb pillow/sachet, dyes (marigold, calendula, turmeric, yarrow, goldenrod, lavender, paprika, dandelion, hibiscus), the list goes on and on!
